Weight Training Programs

Why do athletes need to have a weight training program? Couldn’t we all just go to the gym and do whatever we want and make results?

You can do whatever you want in the weight room, it’s your body. But you want to actually make results and become a better athlete, then you need a great weight training program. You need a program that is tailored just for you in order to receive the most benefit.

There are literally so many free programs on the web that you should have no problem finding one that is decent. But there is also a ton of shitty programs out there that will not help you in any way whatsoever. The problem with these types of programs is that they are “one size fits all”. By this I mean that they are generic programs that are able to be used by any type of athlete. That makes absolutely zero sense! You wouldn’t want a linebacker training like an offensive lineman that would be stupid, so why would you have all athletes training the same.

A program that has been made specifically for an athlete will produce so much better results than a cookie cutter program. Honestly, the difference between these two types of training programs is so huge that there could be a difference of 100’s of pounds of strength gained. This strength could lead to more speed, more inches on your vertical, etc. but the cookie cutter program will not yield these type of results.

A great training program is only half the battle. The other half is the work ethic and motivation, and this is crucial for an athlete’s success. It is mind blowing the amount of athletes that never see results because they do not work hard enough. They do not have the will power to put in the work that is required to become a great athlete. These are the same athletes that complain about not making any results with their training, it’s absolutely ludicrous.

So now you have your weight training program and you’re good to go, well not so fast. You also need to be sure to have great eating habits to meet all of your nutritional needs. I have seen tons of athletes that are some of the most dedicated athletes I have ever met in the gym, but outside of it, it is like they just let their selves go and pig out. I am not saying that an athlete needs to eat very healthy to see results, but rather to educate them on what is going on inside their bodies and the effect if will have on them years down the road.

Well there you go an article that explained the importance of a good weight training program and how important it is that you have one to see results. This program will keep an athlete focused on the end goal and they will not lose sight at all. So be sure to look into finding an individualized weight training program and begin making results.
